Hocking Hills Cabin

Ben and Felix and I took a little getaway trip to the Hocking Hills this week. The weather was super snowy, so it was a winter wonderland!

There was a cozy fireplace.

We tried a new beer, Chocolate Coconut Candy Stout from Untitled Art. It was delicious!!

We played cribbage. We played two very close games! Ben almost always wins cribbage, even though I'm the one who taught him to play.

I made lasagna for dinner.

And we had delicious breakfasts!

Blackjack Cabin! Would highly recommend.

It was fun exploring the property with Felix.

The cabin had a hot tub and a sauna! What a treat!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Happy Birthday, Mom! We gathered at Mer, Pete and Kate's to celebrate. We got takeout from Purple Chopstix and the only picture I got of dinner was of my cup of cream of mushroom soup! Which was delicious.

I made a coconut cake for dessert!

Make a wish and snuff out your candles!

Yum. Happy birthday, Mom!

Indian Rocks Beach

Michele and I decided to take a little trip to Indian Rocks Beach, Florida! We thought some sunny beach time would be a nice break from cold Ohio. N95 masks on the plane!

For dinner our first night, we made piña coladas and ordered pizza from Slyce! We got a mushroom and truffle oil pizza, and a pear gorgonzola pizza. They hit the spot! Look at the cute little oranges theme at our Airbnb!

The next morning was bright and sunny! This is the view from our balcony. The beach is just on the other side of those houses.

Naturally, we went straight to the beach! Matching toenails!!

We took a nice stroll along the beach.

Then we came back to our Airbnb to check out the hot tub!

And the pool! It was a little too chilly for the pool.

There's our breakfast nook in the daylight! It's so cute!

Leftover pizza with passion fruit mango wheat ale for lunch! Cheers!

An afternoon nip of bourbon in the hot tub.

Michele made brownies! This Ghirardelli brownie mix got Michele searched at the airport. They detected it in her suitcase and needed to make sure it wasn't a bomb. I'm glad they let her keep it!!

Back to the beach in the evening! Look at that pelican floating out there.

This woman was putting on a bubble show and it was so beautiful!

She looks like a wizard!

For dinner we got takeout from a Tex-Mex restaurant called Jake's Coastal Cantina. It was sooo good!

Bagels, grapefruit, yogurt and mimosas for breakfast the next morning!

And then back to the beach!

Reading at the beach is the definition of relaxation.

This little house was a couple of doors down from our Airbnb. It had a bunny theme, and was totally adorable!

After reading at the beach in the morning, we headed back to the hot tub for reading and piña coladas!

This is the life!

Back to the beach (are you sensing a theme) for sunset.

Happy friends feeling relaxed in the sunshine! We should do this more often!

Sunset!

Heading back to the Airbnb.

Jake's Coastal Cantina was so delicious that we ordered it for dinner again!! I got shrimp tacos.

And a tamale!

This was our last night, and we were really proud of ourselves for buying the perfect amount of alcohol for our little vacation. These mini bottles were the perfect amount for a few piña coladas, a couple tastes of bourbon, some mimosas and the occasional beer! CHEERS!

On our last morning, Michele went for a run and I got myself a breakfast sandwich from Indian Rocks Cafe.

On the way to the airport, we wanted to go paddle boarding. The place we checked out to rent didn't have any available, and the only thing we could get was this double kayak.

We packed delicious sandwiches! It was the WORST IDEA EVER though because we got totally lost and we were out in the ocean near biggish boats and it was scary and not the fun kind of adventure. We did manage to make it back to the boat rental on time though. I have never been so relieved to make it back to a shore. The sandwiches were good though.

We stopped at one last beach on the way to the airport. We'll miss you, Florida!
