Happy Birthday, Dad!

Today is Dad's birthday! We celebrated with a party at my house. Mer made a chocolate cake, and Baby Kate helped decorate it. As soon as Dad arrived, she wanted to show him the cake.

Oooh, look at that cake!

Kate is such a good sprinkler!

Uncle Tom brought some birthday beer for Dad as a present. It was the FOAMIEST! And very delicious.

We had a cornhole session outside!

Go, Dad!

Doesn't Kate look like a little UMPIRE?

Kate and I would blow on the bags for good luck. Double Kate Luck!

The anticipation!

Running back and forth.

Whoo!

Mom made an awesome salad.

I made Thai Pork Stew!

Kate helped Dad unwrap his presents.

Time for cake!

Dad and Kate worked together to blow out all the candles.

Make a wish!

The cake was sooooooooooooooooooo good!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!

Sunbeam Kitty

This afternoon, I was getting ready for Dad's birthday party, when I walked back to the bedroom for a minute. Look what I saw in there!! Charlie was sitting in a little sunbeam!!

A Visit From Beth

Beth came to visit me from Seattle yesterday! The very first thing we did was go to Casa. We got quesadillas and bloody marys!

After that, we did some shopping uptown, then went to Jackie O's for happy hour. We had a couple of delicious beers, and by that time we were hungry again! We grabbed some Burrito Buggy and then went out to Summer's house for a dip in the hot tub. There was a crazy storm a'brewing, with lightening and everything! We got out before we died of electrocution, but not before we got soaked by the pouring rain. No pictures of this event, which is good because I would have probably ruined my camera.

This morning we went for a run and then went to Casa again! We went at brunch time. Beth got breakfast.

And I got lunch.

Yay for Casa and fun Beth times!

After Casa, we walked around campus for awhile. Look, there's little Beth in front of Ellis Hall!

Thanks for coming to Athens, Beth!

Hotdish #1: Chicken, Mushroom & Wild Rice Casserole

The latest issue of Eating Well has a special feature on hotdishes. They ALL look delicious to me, so I'm going to try making them all! There are six total. The first one on the agenda was the Chicken, Mushroom & Wild Rice Casserole. Look, there it is!

Full body shot.

We had Mom and Dad over to help us enjoy it. We all LOVED it! It really turned out great and I would definitely make it again. Mom made some zucchini to go with it. Oh, and I used a wild rice blend instead of straight-up wild rice, and it was totally fine.

Altha sent along some chocolate chip cookies with Mom. YES.

Here is the link to the recipe.

Tomato In Her Pocket

Although at first glance, it might look like all Kate has in her pocket is a bunch of carrots, but guess what? There is a tomato in there too! See?

Now Grandpa gets to have the tomato in his pocket for awhile.

Grandpa is a lucky guy.
