Charlie Loves Video Games

Ben got this new video game, Red Dead Redemption. In it, you are a cowboy and you ride your horse all over the land. Charlie LOVES it! He just sits there and watches.

Tons and Tons of Erlewines

Today was the kick-off to a family-filled weekend of fun! Uncle Stephen, his girlfriend Judith, his twin daughters (my cousins) Meg and Liz, and Liz's husband Aaron and their son Sam all made the trip to Athens for a visit.

Uncle Tom had us all over for a Sandwich Feast for dinner tonight. On the way there, Ben and I stopped at Bellavino for a six-pack. I handed my ID to the girl at the counter, and she said "Oh, wait!" At first I thought there was something wrong with my ID, but then she said "You draw unicorns!! Right!?" And I said, "YES! Do you want one?!" And she did! She had seen a post I made on Facebook about unicorn pegasus, and recognized me. So cool! Turns out her name is Kate, too! Here she is:

Look at all those sandwiches!! They were delicious. Probably some of the best of my life.

Sam and Meg! He got really hot from all of the corn hole playing.

Liz and Aaron playing their first game of corn hole ever!

After dinner, we had Meg over to watch Kick-Ass. It was great.

I Smashed My Finger

This evening, I went to Jackie O's after work for a beer. I took a trip to the bathroom and on the way out, this freak accident occurred and my finger got SMASHED in the door. I'm still not even sure exactly how it happened. I was just sort of reaching behind me to make sure the door was closing and WOOSH it slammed.

SMASHED!!

Summer had to help me get my grandma's ring off. It was a perfect circle before it got smashed!!

I think if I hadn't had that ring on, my finger would have probably needed stitches. Thanks, Grandma! I'll be taking the ring in to get fixed right away.

Morel Hunting

This afternoon, Dad, Ben and I went out morel hunting! The weather was acting very bizarre. Stormy one minute...

... and sunny the next!

We hunted and hunted.

But all we found were snakes!

Oh well, maybe next time.

Highland Park

Dad is building a replica of highland park for Baby Kate. So far he has the swing and the slide down! Next he's working on the tube section.

Unicorn Wine & New Curtain

Maia and Chris gave us this bottle of wine for a housewarming gift. Look at the fancy bag!

AND LOOK WHAT IS INSIDE!!!

UNICORN WINE. A little magic in every sip. I've been saving it for a night that felt a little magical, and tonight was the night!

It really did taste magical.

I made grilled pizzas to have with it.

Also, check out the new curtain that Mom made us!! I LOVE it.

And here's how it looks in the sunshine. Thanks, Mom!

Cooking Club: Tour of Asia

Yumi hosted this month's cooking club, and we did a tour of Asia! We each represented a different Asian country. I did Vietnam and made fresh spring rolls. Here are all my ingredients:

Spring rolls!

I made a hoisin/peanut butter dipping sauce, and a garlic chili fish sauce one.

Nancy made watermelon margaritas!

Summer started us off with miso soup.

Time for spring rolls!

Shoe break. Look at Yumi's new shoes!

Yumi prepared a huge spread of Korean side dishes to eat throughout the meal.

Suzanne's Japanese coconut custard buns.

Yumi preparing bulgogi.

Sizzle!

It was so so so good.

Serving it up.

With sticky rice.

Another fashion break. This time Summer tries on a dress!

Valerie made outstanding pad thai.

Yum!

Then we busted into the coconut custard buns. They were GREAT.

Summer's dessert. Coconut rose ice cream with lychee berries.

Nancy made a dessert too! Little roasted pineapple cookies!

It was a wonderful cooking club! I truly felt like I'd been through Asia and back.
