The Guinness Bet

At Conference this year, Tom and I got in an argument about whether Guinness Draft Bottles were made from plastic or glass. We were both so confident that we were right, that we mad a bet. Winner buys loser an Irish Car Bomb. Then Tracy upped the ante by offering to buy us BOTH Irish Car Bombs, but that the loser of the bet would have to bow properly to the winner. Game on!

Although I was proven to be the winner as soon as we saw a six pack of GLASS BOTTLES, it didn't hurt to have this email response from the Guinness Team in my court as well:

Dear Guinness,

Please help me settle a bet. Your Guinness Draught Bottles are made of glass, not plastic, correct?

Thanks!

Kate

Wheels on Fire Skateboard Contest

Today I volunteered at the Wheels on Fire Skateboard Contest. I worked at the T-shirt booth, so I got free Subway and free pizza! When I wasn't working, I was watching the contest. Although the forecast called for showers, the day remained beautiful and sunny until the contest was over. Then it was time for bands, and the rain held off for about half, but the last two bands didn't get to play. Bummer.I have pictures from the event and a little movie of Moss, who won the competition.

ICB Taste Test and Beer Pong

Summer and I joined in the celebration of her brother Alex's birthday tonight. First we did an Irish Car Bomb taste test: Guinness VS. Young's Double Chocolate Stout. Though the Young's is delicious and good for a treat, Guinness won and holds the title as the classic Irish Car Bomb brew. After those, Summer and I played Alex and his friend at Beer Pong, and despite our ferocious shit talking, got SCHOOLED.

Conference 2006: St. Louis

I left for Saint Louis on Saturday, April 29, and got back this afternoon. Conference was great this year! We got a lot of compliments, and our attendees seemed to enjoy themselves very much. The schedule was pretty much the same this year, work from 6:30 or 7 a.m. through the evening, and then go out and eat dinner and have drinks! It's a pretty fun way to experience a city. St. Louis was certainly a good time, and we sure did have a lot of Irish Car Bombs.

Dayton Invasion

This weekend, Anne, Clark and Ryan came to visit from Dayton! Friday night, we got some Pita Pit for dinner and decided to eat it at The Crystal. In the Crystal now, we're the fucking coolest now!

Even though the plan was to take it easy Friday night, we accidentally ended up at the Pub for aquariums. Who can say no to gigantic goblets full of beer?

After that we headed back to my house. It was a weekend of firsts for Ryan! He was introduced to Pictionary, which of course he loved. We were totally kicking ass and would have won but the other team pulled some cheating shenanigans.

Saturday, we headed uptown for the afternoon. It was a beautiful, awesome day! It was Earth Day so I guess it was appropriate. We did a little Athens shopping and had some Casa brunch. After that, we stopped by my parents' house so the boys could geek out in Dad's shop while Anne and I enjoyed the sunshine!

Saturday night, a bunch of people met us at Casa. They had scallop bacon tacos as the special! I sure did get one of those. After Casa, we went to The Union for Irish Car Bombs (Ryan's first) and pool! Basically, a perfect night. We walked home ten minutes before it began to storm, and watched The Office and ate spaghetti. Can't wait til the next viist!

Prom Re-enactment

Last night Anne and I were talking about prom and I said "Wait a minute!" and put on my prom dress! It is true, I never get rid of anything. Then we spontaneously decided to reenact my senior prom pictures from 1997. I am playing the part of myself, and Anne is playing my date, Isaac.

Charlie is SO TIRED.

Adam called me up today to tell me that Charlie was just SO tired. He was passed out hard on the couch, sleeping away! So tired! I said I would need photographic evidence of this, so Adam started taking pictures. He emailed me every time Charlie took a new pose! Seeing these really made this rainy afternoon fly by!

Happy Easter! Featuring: Springtime Cake!

For Easter I decided to make a cake. A SPRINGTIME cake. I made the banana-raspberry cake with lemon cream cheese frosting (dad's favorite), but made it special by dressing it up for spring! I was really excited to make a cake because I finally bought myself a pedestal cake stand with domed lid. I've been wanting one for ages because I just knew how cute cakes would look inside one!

So I took a million pictures. I took the cake with me over to Mom and Dad's house for Easter dinner. Mmmm.
