It's Pete's birthday! We gathered at their house to celebrate. Pete got a new grill for his birthday, and he kicked the night off with these scrumptious grilled eggplant appetizers!
The Athena aired The Last Unicorn today as part of their summer Beat The Heat series. I may have seen the movie over a hundred times, but I've never seen it in the theater before! I could not contain my excitement!!!!!!!
First in line, front row seats!
Ahhhhhh!!!!
I wasn't prepared for how emotional this would make me. I was practically on the verge of tears for the entire movie. It's just so GOOD! And on the big screen, with the big speakers! You could almost feel the Red Bull through the floor. Bucket list item, CHECK!
Happy Brew Week!! We had amazing weather for Top Deck dinner this year. I haven't been taking as many pictures as usual this week, but I was glad we got the board and friends together for a group photo on top of the parking garage. Cheers!
A new event debuted in Athens this summer: the Near Eastside Neighborhood Athens Porchfest! Houses throughout the east side hosted musicians and bands on their porches, and you could just wander around and hear different music throughout the neighborhood!
Mara hosted bands on her porch, so we spent some time in her front yard on South Shannon. We enjoyed tunes from Appalachian Soup Company.
Matching unicorn Pegasus Larry Elefante shirts!!! Larry Elefante was playing one of the porches, so we wanted to represent.
Rylee Bapst at Sunnyside Drive.
Followed by Larry Elefante, also at Sunnyside!
They sounded great!
Jodie was also rocking the Larry shirt!
The grand finale was bands at the Jackie O's Taproom. Liberty Furnace was up first.
Followed by Water Witches.
What a super fun event! I hope they do this every year!
A group of us headed to Pittsburgh this weekend to see Danielle Ponder at the Thunderbird Cafe & Music Hall.
Danielle won our hearts at Nelsonville Music Festival in 2022.
It was a fabulous show!!
We spent Saturday exploring the city! We had cocktails on a balcony. Cheers!
We walked to and around Point State Park.
It was a gorgeous day in Iron City! Across the river you can see the Duquesne Incline funicular, which we walked to after we were done exploring the park.
Walking to the funicular.
We had a light lunch at the Grandview Saloon. What an amazing view! Look on the balcony, there are my friends!
Cheers!
We did more walking and more sightseeing. Beautiful views everywhere!
We headed back down the hill on the Monongahela Incline.
I made everyone do "Toot toot!" with me.
Look how steep!!
After the funicular ride, we went to the Grand Concourse for fancy cocktails.
Later that evening we went to the roof of our hotel to check out the views!
We did a little more exploring on Sunday before heading back to Athens. Look, I'm on 44th Street! My favorite number. :)
