Herb Cooking Club

For this month's installment of cooking club, we celebrated the wonderful world of herbs! Yumi was our hostess for this delicious event. Nancy started us off with her famous apple thyme martinis. Cheers!

Summer made a little appetizer of prosciutto-wrapped feta and sage.

Valerie made Avgolemono, a chilled greek soup. It had lemon, rice and eggs, and was topped with a delicious heap of fresh dill!

I made spring rolls! They had basil, peaches, avocado and spinach.

I served them with a peanutty dipping sauce, and they paired BEAUTIFULLY with Yumi's delicious green papaya salad with cilantro!!

Nancy made a green bean and grape salad with rosemary, thyme and cilantro dressing. Herbalicious!

Summer made risotto with sage! She brought all the ingredients and made a fresh risotto on the spot.

It takes awhile to make, so we took turns keeping her company!

This was part of a taste test. She had made a batch the night before, and we were curious to see whether or not it was worth it to make it fresh. The answer was YES! While the leftover risotto was totally delicious, the fresh risotto was EXTRA creamy and amazing. I could have eaten a pound of each, though. So good!

Yumi also made red snapper with a cilantro chimichurri.

All together, now!

We played Apples to Apples while we made room for dessert.

Emily made rosemary watermelon sorbet! It was SO light and refreshing. Yum, yum, yum!

And finally, in the true spirit of herbs, Valerie brought us all giant bags of weed!

Haha, just kidding! That's catnip from her garden. Yumi's cat was going bonkers throughout the night trying to get at the stash. We all got a baggie to take home. Here is some footage of Charlie and Emma enjoying the treat. Things started off pleasantly, but then turned kind of vicious!

Caribbean Cooking Club

Emily hosted this month's cooking club, and we went TROPICAL with a Caribbean theme. Nancy started us out with delicious piƱa coladas. Cheers!

I made grilled shrimp with a garlicky Cuban mojo dipping sauce.

Look at those beautiful flowers!

Emily made plantain tostones with mango salsa!

And some refreshing limeade.

Mmm, islandy!

Valerie made fresh lump crabmeat and salmon cakes, topped with corn salsa and smoky chipotle aioli. This combination was SO great! It had an awesome kick and was just delicious.

Yumi made a big pot of oxtail stew!

With some coconut rice and beans.

The stew was rich and delicious.

Cocktail parasols can make any drink feel more tropical. Tropical glass of wine!

Tropical beer!

It was a lovely night.

Time for some fun and games!

We played Mad Gab, the game where you have to try and quickly sound out the seemingly random words on the card, which when put together make an actual phrase. It is hysterical.

We finally revived our appetites for dessert!! Summer made a duo of ice creams. Sweet potato ice cream with toasted homemade marshmallows, and a vanilla rum with coconut.

They were FREAKING AWESOME! I probably could have eaten all six bowls!!

Mmmm.

I leave you with some video of our game of Mad Gab.

Cooking Club at Nancy's - Cookout!

Nancy hosted cooking club this month. Since her pool was open and the weather was hot, we did a cookout theme! Summer made some delicious grilled marinated zucchini with ham and a delicious vinaigrette.

Emily made a chilled cucumber soup with shrimp. It was refreshing!

I made grilled rosemary salmon and tomato skewers. Another successful Eating Well recipe! Check it out: Grilled Rosemary Salmon Skewers

Kramer loves it when all the ladies come over to pet him.

Yumi made a big fresh salad full of farmer's market produce!

Nancy made a big pile of ribs! They were SO GOOD.

Mmm, what a great combination.

Valerie made these apple, gouda and oatmeal cookies. THEY WERE AMAZING!!!!!! The cheese was chewy and the apples were sweet. There were golden raisins, too!

Oh, look who it is!! Mr. Handsome! Hello, Sal! Look at his fancy PANTS!

Thanks for hosting, Nancy! MMM!
